6th Annual Kidney Walks

Locally presented by Charles T. Bauer Foundation

This year we are excited to introduce our Walk Ambassador, Emily Biondi.  Emily is a kidney transplant recipient.  She received a kidney from her father in December 2003.  For reasons unknown Emily had kidney failure at the age of 19.  She was in college in Florida and had to move back home to Ellicott City to undergo nine months of hemodialysis.

During this time she began to take classes at UMBC.  Emily received her new kidney during her winter break from school and quickly recovered to start the semester in the spring.  Emily still attends UMBC.

She is a member of both Team Maryland and Team USA. As the only Marylander on the 2007 Team USA, Emily won gold and silver medals at the World Transplant Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

Emily will be joining us at the Baltimore and Columbia Walks.

If you are interested in forming a team and would like to receive a Team Captain Kit, please contact Kelly Meltzer, director of special events, at 443-322-0378, or kmeltzer@kidneymd.org.
