Ask your Representative to support the Living Donor Protection Act

Ask your Representative to support the Living Donor Protection Act

During March, the Living Donor Protection Act (H.R. 1270) was introduced in the House of Representatives by Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA). Earlier this week, in celebration of National Donate Life Month, 21 Representatives became the bill’s first co-sponsors. Many of these lawmakers became supporters because of the activism of kidney patients during the 4th Annual Kidney Patient Summit on March 7.

We need you to continue their efforts by asking your Representative to help expand support by becoming a co-sponsor of H.R. 1270. This bill will protect living organ donors and remove barriers to donation by prohibiting insurance companies from denying or limiting life, disability and long term care insurance to donors, and from charging higher premiums. Through changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the bill also extends job security to living organ donors, while recovering from donation.

Please personalize your emails to your Representative to share your perspective or experiences with living donation. Thank you for acting to protect living kidney donors.
